Management
Dr. Mahendra N. Deshpande
is a President and Chief Executive Officer. His forte
is creativity in problem solving, development of novel synthetic
routes / processes for bulk drug synthesis, successful implementation
of technology in kilo-labs and manufacturing plants. He has managed
multiple projects and led a team of scientists (Ph.Ds. and Chem.
Engineers). In his 12 years of tenure at Abbott Labs, he developed
a number of processes for bulk drug manufacturing from bench to
plant. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journal and
made number of scientific presentation worldwide. Dr. Deshpande
earned his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees from India. He earned
another MS degree (Organic Chemistry) at Wichita State University,
and a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry at University of Wisconsin,
Milwaukee. He completed postdoctoral assignments at Research Triangle
Institute in Research Triangle Park, NC and University of North
Texas. He was a group leader / Sr. Research Investigator in Process
R & D at Abbott Laboratories, N. Chicago, IL, where he oversaw
projects in chemical route selection, process development and scaleup
in kilolab and pilot plants in USA and Europe. He was the recipient
of the Bob Stein award and Chairman's awards for outstanding scientific
contributions to several neuroscience projects.
Dr. Rajendra C. Shah
is a President and Chief Operating Officer. He received his Ph.
D. from Sardar Patel University, India. He has over 20 years of
research and development experience in different areas of pharmaceutical
research, such as Process R & D, analytical and formulation.
During his 10 years of service at Abbott Laboratory, IL, he developed
chemical processes in the lab and transferred the technolologies
to pilot plant and manufacturing in USA and Europe. He demonstrated
creativity and leadership in problem solving in process development,
polymorphism, crystallization, purification and isolation. Furthermore.
he successfully completed process justification for a bulk pharmaceuticals'
manufacturing process in order to bring them into compliance with
the latest FDA/EPA guide lines. He has handled controlled drug projects
and made cGMP deliveries in USA and Europe. Prior to his tenure
in Abbott Labs, Dr.Shah was Sr. Scientist at Lyphomed, IL, where
he was responsible for cGMP formulation and Quality Control in a
GLP Laboratory (regulated by FDA/EPA and OSHA regulations and guidelines).
He managed over 100 formulation products and their analysis. Dr.Shah
held a position of Process R &D Manager at Themis Pharmaceutical
Ltd., India, where he led a team of chemists and engineers. He developed
a highly cost efficient process for resolution of D2-aminobutanol.
Dr. Richard J. Pariza
is a member of the Scientific Advisory board of OrgSyn
Laboratory, Inc. He is also Vice President, Science and Technology,
for Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in Grafton, WI, and an officer
and Board Member for OncQuest, Inc. He has had over 20 years
of leadership on major projects in the pharmaceutical industry,
as Department Manager of Process Research at Abbott Laboratories,
Vice President of Chemistry for Protarga, Inc., and a consultant
to several major pharmaceutical companies. He was the chairman of
a prestigious IUPAC Symposium and has served on/chaired national
ACS committees. He was frequently invited to chair sessions and
lead discussions at international scientific conferences.
He was a founding Associate Editor for Organic Process Research
& Development , the research publication of the American
Chemical Society for process research, and now serves on the Editorial
Board. He has more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and
10 patents, and continues to be active in chemical research.
Dr. Mukund Chorghade
is a member of the Scientific Advisory board of OrgSyn
Laboratory, Inc. President and Chief Scientific Officer of
the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division of D & O Pharmachem, Inc.
He has been President of Chorghade Enterprises / CP Consulting,
Inc. providing consultations to major American, European and Asian
pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies on collaborations
with worldwide academic, government and industrial laboratories.
Dr. Chorghade earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
at Georgetown University in Washington, D. C., in 1982. He
completed postdoctoral appointments at the University of British
Columbia, and College de France / Université Louis Pasteur.
He was Vice-President, Chemical Development Sciences at Geltex /
Genzyme where he oversaw projects in chemical route selection, process
development, chemical manufacturing and formulation of bulk actives
to finished dosage forms. He directed research groups at Dow
Chemicals, Abbott Laboratories and CytoMed. He was the recipient
of three “Scientist of the Year Awards” and had the honor of being
a featured speaker in several national and international symposia.
Dr. Chorghade is currently on the Board of Directors
of the Northeast Section of American Chemical Society. He serves
on the Advisory Board for Organic Process Research and Development,
Chimica Oggi and the Nucleus . Dr. Chorghade has been
honored by election to the Royal Society of Chemistry (Elected Fellow);
New York Academy of Sciences; American Institute of Chemists (Elected
Fellow); World Innovation Foundation (Elected Fellow); AAAS; Sigma
